MOTHER and HER DAUGHTER

These thoughts and all the things I post on my blogs are taken from the things people have given me over my lifetime. Whether it be a picture, a saying, a poem, someone elses thoughts; I keep them all in my files. These as well as all the people that gave these things to me mean the world to me, so I wanted the world to see just how much.

Take this post for example:

I came across this book, I believe, my daughter Lynni gave me for Christmas one year. From time to time I read through it and as I read the passages on each page, they would remind me of my daughters and I want to share them with the world.


THE DAY THE LOVE BEGAN... This one reminds me of how I felt when I had my first daughter ... Patti. I was so terrified but yet so anxious to have a daughter of my own. She was the most beautiful baby I have ever seen. There's a unique joy a mother gets when she has a baby of her own! ..... I Love You Patti, with all my heart!

Before she was a part of my life, I used to dream about what it would be like to have a daughter. Scattered among my hopes for someone to love and share things with, were many fears of motherhood and all it's challenges. I wondered whether I had it in me to give enough of myself to meet the needs of a tiny new person who would depend on me for everything. I wondered whether I could love and care for a beautiful daughter the way I imagined in my dreams - completely and without reservations. When she finally became a part of my life, I knew right away that she was everything I had hoped for and more! The little fears disappeared in the rush of the love I felt, and when I held her in my arms, I wanted to stay that way ... Forever!

AS MOTHER and DAUGHTER WE SHARE SOMETHING SPECIAL... As I was reading this one, I thought of my second daughter, Angela. We may not have seen eye to eye as she was growing up and not always agreed on matters, but somehow, as time came to pass, our love and friendship grew as she became a woman and a mom. We now are not only mother and daughter, but also best friends! ..... I Love You Angela, with all my heart!

I'm so glad that we're different from a lot of mothers and daughters. We're not just family, but true friends! We can confide in each other no matter what the subject. We can share laughter and good times, discuss life's challenges, try to help fix each other's problems, or just be there to listen and understand. We can count on each other more than anyone else in the world, knowing we will be there for each other under any circumstances. The love and support we share provide us with confidence, courage, and strength whenever we need it most. We're more than mom and daughter ...We're Best Friends!

WHEN A DAUGHTER BECOMES A MOTHER...When I read this one, it reminded me of our daughter, Peggy. Although I've only known her since she was 15ish, we have become as close as if she were truly my own! She became independent enough to establish a life filled with, maybe a few obsticles, but a lot of rewards... a loving husband, three of my precious grankids, and a knack for keeping her head together in times of crisis'. ..... I Love You, Peggy, with all my heart! !

For so many years, I couldn't even imaging my daughter having a child! It seemed as though the best thing I could do for her was to take care of her. I know I fought her independence for a while because I didn't want to let her go. I realize now, though, that giving a daughter her independence is the greatest show of love a mother can offer, because it gives that daughter the opportunity to realize the joys of motherhood for herself.

My grandchildren are among my greatest joys, and I am so proud of our daughter - not only for having a child, but for being a wonderful mother. She has taught me that the happiness she gives me now is as great as the happiness she gave me when she was a little girl ...it's just different... in a very wonderful way! - Vicki Perkins

FOR MY GROWN-UP DAUGHTER...I read this one and immediately thought of my youngest daughter, Lynn. Although she will always be my baby, she has one of my grankids and has enough room in her heart to fill a stadium and then some. She always thinks of the needs and challenges of others before thinking of herself. Hmmm, I think she got one of my traits! hehehee. ..... I Love You, Lynni, with all my heart!

It seems like yesterday I tucked you in at night, whispering a prayer of thanks for another day of having you in my life. Not so long ago, we were putting your baby teeth under your pillow for the tooth fairy, and reading storybooks until you fell asleep in my arms. It felt as though you grew overnight into a beautiful young lady. Today I see you reaching out to people, showing that one person can make a difference in the world. And what a difference you've made! I know my life could never have been so full and complete without your being such an important part of it. I've watched the difference you've made in the lives of others as well. You have a very special gift that inspires people to be the best they can be. THE BUTTERFLY

One day a small opening appeared on a cocoon, a man sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force it's body through that little opening. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no further so the man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily but it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings. The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time. Neither happened... In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of it's life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.

What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand, was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the opening, were God's way of forcing the fluid from the body of the butterfly into it's wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved it's freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If God allowed us to go through our life without any obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as we could have been. We could never fly.

I asked for strength... And God gave me Difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for wisdom... And God gave me problems to solve.
I asked for Prosperity... And God gave me Brain and Brawn to work.
I asked for Courage... And God gave me Danger to overcome.
I asked for Love... And God gave me Troubled people to help.
I asked for Favors... And God gave me opportunities.
I received nothing I wanted...Only everything I needed.

On December 8th We Had Our Church's Annual Christmas Dinner. It Was Wonderful Sharing Quality Time Together. Our Own "Creator's Critters" Delivered Beautiful Messages. So Many Delicious Foods, So Much To Choose From! We Set Up 10 Tables And Barely Had Enough Room. But No One Seemed To Mind. The Room Was Definitely Filled With The Christmas Spirit! We Shared Laughter, Food, Fellowship and Made Many
Beautiful Memories!

Berkeley Springs Annual Apple Butter

We had our annual Apple Butter Festival
Columbus Day weekend and this slide show is of
the parade which kick's off our Festival at 9:00 AM

THIS IS A BIG THING FOR ME!

This desk has been in my honey's family for longer than I have been! I met my honey in 1986. I remember visiting his parents for the first time. When I saw this desk, I couldn't believe how LARGE it was. I instantly fell in love with it. His dad owned a business and this was his desk. Back then, little did I know it would be mine someday! His dad passed away in 2005 and it instantly became ours! We took over his business and the desk came with it! Every time I would sit at the desk, I would be reminded of that first day. When Peggy and Scott moved into their home, one of the things she wanted was the desk. I can understand it was her grandad's desk and she would have liked to have it and they certainly had the room for it, but I kinda got upset that they wanted to take it away from me. I've really grown attached to it. I wasn't ready to part with it then.




Even today I really n truly love it . . . but . . . I'm afraid in the past 2-3 years the business is definitely not doing as well as it did once upon a time. We became the "old Folk". My honey retired recently and things are not the same. So I ask myself daily why do we need so much stuff?! It's taking it's toll on my emotions here. This is a big thing for me that I'm doing! I really can't believe it's happening but it's definitely for the best. It's just the two of us and we live in a double wide mobile home. It's really too large for this place as you can see.
So it really has to go!!! :(





Lynn and Christopher decided they were ready to get a place of their own so it gave me the incentive to "downsize" our life's possessions which does include this desk. I asked Peggy if she wanted it now and she said she now has a desk of her own and don't need it. Lynn and Christopher moved out and I'm still giving her stuff that I don't want anymore. I asked her if she wanted the desk and she immediately said yes. Their place is so large she has plenty of room for it so I've been slowly cleaning out the drawers so it can be taken apart. That's the next step. I think Lynn said she'll have "manpower" this Saturday to take it apart and move it. God knows my honey cannot take it apart or move it anymore. This way I can admire it in their home now instead of ours. So since this move started I am able to see places and spaces in my home I haven't see in a while with all the clutter. This makes me happy specially cuz I have a little claustrophobia.




This shelving unit was filled with office stuff AND craft supplies! It too is going to Lynn's. I managed to empty it and get rid of a lot of things. I replaced the shelves with those "drawer bins" that you can see in the corner. I'm able to stack them and that's where my craft supplies now live. The office stuff has been downsized considerably.



Right now I'm getting ready
to use the desk as a place to sew some curtains


Although I'm downsizing,
I still need a place to do my finances so I ordered this

I know I will miss having that big ole desk around, but I also know it will make someone (Lynn & Christopher) as happy as I was to have it!

MY NIECE MICHELLE

I am so proud to be a part of this loving family. I come from a long line of creative artists who are so gifted. I'm so amazed by their gifts God has given them. In particular here, I'd like to take this opportunity to brag about my niece, Michelle.

She has a floral boutique, MDS FLORAL DESIGNS, in southern New Jersey where she creates unique floral designs exclusively for weddings, parties and special events whether it be small intimate gatherings or a grand ballroom affair. MDS FLORAL DESIGN has received the "Peoples Choice Award" at the 2007 Dining Spaces Tabletop Contest to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Michelle is a Breast Cancer Survivor. I am truly honored to have her as my niece.
